Tahoe Island Drive

The Tahoe Island Drive area is a desirable in-town neighborhood consisting of older and newer built homes, The neighborhood can be accessed from Hwy 50 by turning on 3rd Street or via 12th Street off of Hwy 89 (Emerald Bay Rd).
The homes along and just off of Tahoe Island Drive coming in from 3rd Street are mostly older but well kept homes. Tahoe Valley Elementary School is located right off of Tahoe Island Drive in this section.
The homes off of 12th Street are somewhat more desirable as this is a quieter section of the neighborhood. 12th Street ends on Tahoe Island Drive and this section then curves around Tahoe Island Drive and ends back on 12th Street. This curved section is the most desirable part, as the homes on one side back to a small Forest Service Strip of land that ends at the only natural lagoon on the back side of the Tahoe Keys. The lagoon is used for kayaking in summer and ice skating in winter when it freezes. The lagoon does not have access to the Lake.
There is a bike trail that parallels Highway 89 and leads to Pope beach, Baldwin beach, Kiva beach, Valhalla, Camp Richardson and Fallen Leaf lake. The neighborhood is close to all services, restaurants and shopping
